Here is a video that I just cannot get enough of, Josh Haskins out of Richmond, VA covering ‘This November” by Tim Barry. I just can’t believe that it only has forty five views, considering probably a quarter of those are probably from me watching it over and over. Check it out below and see what other incredible videos Josh has by heading over to his Facebook page, HERE.

IAD to SFO

As some of you may already know, I am headed with the canibeat crew to San Fransisco for Wekfest, and am currently on my way via Virgin America! First off, I have to address how cool it is that I can get on the Internet on here and text on my phone, insane! Anyway, Wekfest is on Sunday so we have the next several days to just hang out and relax, catch some fun stuff, do some shopping and film a bit around town.

Canibeat will be releasing a new shirt on Sunday at Wekfest, one of my favorite shirts so far, in fact I am wearing one right now! Earlier in the week we shot all of the new shirts for the look book and ended up using me as the model, its definitely interesting being on the other side of the camera but I am very happy with the outcome. The photos were all shot at my home studio, using an AB400 strobe with 7″ reflector and AB800 with large octobox against a 9′ black seamless. You can check out the rest of the photos and the other parts of the look book that I was behind the camera for by clicking, HERE.

The Sweetest Song

Last week I received a call from my good friend Ryan from the band Typefighter, a DC based band that I count among my favorite musicians. Ryan and I have worked together in the past a few times, most recently on a music video for Typefighter, which can be seen HERE.

Ryan wrote this song for his lovely girlfriend on the ukelele that she bought him for his birthday and came up with this great concept and asked for my assistance. I was happy to work with Ryan again, we have a great working relationship and personal friendship, and are both beard connoisseurs. This was shot in one afternoon on my 5d mark 2 with 24-70mm f/2.8L, with audio recorded on a zoom H4n with external condenser mic. This was also my first time editing with Final Cut Pro as opposed to Sony Vegas so I had to learn while I edited, despite that I am very happy with the video, and I hope that Ryan’s girlfriend enjoys it as much as we enjoyed making it. So without further adieu, I bring you the video!

I was as confused as you are when I first saw these gorgeous earbuds, sleek aluminum design and useable controls… from case logic!? The company that probably saw a pretty solid hit in sales once people stopped buying those ridiculous huge CD cases has come out with the first earbuds that have made me consider retiring my trusty old oem Apple earbuds, and the best part is they are only $35! Pick yours up and make my ears jealous by clicking HERE.

Today when I got to the location to shoot I had a few extra minutes so I decided to set up my camera first and film myself setting up the backdrop stand and lights. Below you can see a time lapse of that video, complete with one of my favorite artists, Yann Tiersen. Check it out and let me know what you think! You can purchase the backdrop stand in the video by clicking, HERE.

Lets be honest, every person who is reading this has had a dream related to food, am I right? Well prepare to be face to face with that dream, a monster sandwich from Taylor Gourmet with everything anyone could ever want. This sandwich isn’t one they actually offer, but rather a photo of almost everything they offer on a single sandwich, to be used for a super cool marketing piece that I will share with you at a later date. While you anxiously await the final product of this delicious beast you can head on down to one of Taylor Gourmet’s four locations, which you can find out more about HERE.

Today while I was out in DC shooting some new stuff for my friends at Taylor Gourmet I needed a test subject and my trusty ONA bag was sitting nearby so here you go! Its a little rough around the edges but I figured a shot right out of the camera would be just fine. The lighting setup seen here isĀ  one AB800 directly behind me with a large softbox and one AB400 pointing behind the bag with a 7″ reflector. The bag shown is the Union Street, which you can pick up for yourself by heading over to their site, HERE.

Incase DSLR Pro Pack

It looks like the day has come when a company finally made a camera backpack that serves its purpose at the same time as looking fashionable. For many years, companies (incase included) have been putting out functional yet unattractive, or attractive and non-functional DSLR backpacks but this one seems to fix that problem. With enough room to hold a full size DSLR with lens attached, four additional lens, 15″ MacBook pro, iPad and enough accessories to keep you set for days, this backpack is an all around win. Pick yours up for the low price of $150 by clicking, HERE.

This Sunday I spent the day in North East Washington, DC with Roy and Cristian of canibeat.com to shoot the beginning stages of their look book! The weather was almost perfect and we found a great spot immediately, so the rest of the day was smooth sailing. Look for a release of the photos, along with new merchandise sometime this week over on canibeat.com and tell them Joe C sent you! While you anxiously await the release you can enjoy this quick photo of my car in front of the excellent bar on Rhode Island Ave NE, Boundary Stone.
